Robert Earl Meredith, 89, passed away Monday May 21st at VNA Hospice in Vero Beach.
Bob was born March 20, 1929, in Royal Oak, Michigan to Robert Delbert and Bessie Meredith. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1947-1953. During his early service years in Japan, he was a Military Policeman at Sugamo Prison and later served in the Korean War. In 1991, he retired from Gannett where he was groundskeeper and chauffeur for Al Neuharth in Cocoa Beach, FL. During his years at Gannett he met several famous people like Robert Redford and Tom Brokaw.
He is survived by his daughter, Barb Rivenbark, two grandchildren, Kaley (Justin) Brumley and Russell Rivenbark, great granddaughters Laila, age 5¸ and Amelia who will arrive in August 2018 , two brothers Bill Meredith and Gene (Freida) Meredith and two sisters Helen (Gary) Kortman and Marian (Bill) Kortman and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Gladys and three sisters Catherine Houser, Glenys Snyder and Beatrice McNelly.
A gathering is scheduled for 5pm, Friday June 1st, 2018 at Seawinds Funeral Home, 735 S Fleming Street, Sebastian, FL 32958 with a memorial Service to follow at 6pm.
