Robert Woodward, 85 formerly of Sewaren passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Sebastian Medical Center in Sebastian, Florida.

Born in Virginia, Robert was a longtime resident of Sewaren until 2009 when he settled in Florida. Robert honorably served in the United States Air Force and was later employed as a foreman with Shell Oil until retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Woodbridge Fire Department and held the position of Chief in 1982 later becoming an exempt firefighter. Robert was also a member of the Avenel Memorial VFW Post 7164 and a communicant of St. James R.C. Church in Woodbridge. Robert was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

Robert was predeceased by his wife in 2014, Claire Woodward as well as two sons, Robert and William Woodward and a grandson, Robert Woodward. Surviving are his children, Gary Woodward and his wife Debbie, Patricia Repach, Deborah Woodward and Robin Snow; grandchildren, Jackie, Ryan, Christopher, Tiffany, Samantha, Morgan, Nicholas, Andrew, Jordan and Ian; six great grandchildren as well as a sister, Gloria McLain.

Funeral services will begin at 9:30am on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from GERITY & CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 411 Amboy Avenue, Woodbridge, NJ 07095 followed by a 10am mass of resurrection at St. James R.C. Church in Woodbridge. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at the funeral home in New Jersey.
