RUSSELL S HEADY of Barefoot Bay in Micco, FL - he was the son of Leonce and Jennie Heady of Peekskill, NY. He graduated from Peekskill High, was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who fought valiantly and ultimately obtained the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and proudly operated tanks and served as a tactical advisor for his section receiving numerous honors and service medals as a result of his dedication and sacrifice for our country. He returned to Peeksill, settled in Continental Village where he served as a volunteer firefighter and eventually as fire chief and was a member of Teamsters Local 456. He moved to FL in 1994, became a member of local USMC Detachment 18, in which he later served as the Commandant for almost 7 years and served as Vice Commandant for the Marine Corps League for the State of Florida for 10 years. In 2000, he was honored as Marine of the Year and Leaguer of the Year for the State of Florida and was awarded Devil Dog of the Year twice. Russell was a member of the Elk's, DAV, VFW and Amerian Legion and was an active member of St Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Sebastian, FL and, formerly, attended St Peter's Church in Peekskll. Preceded in death by siblings, Leonce, Douglas Headyh and Zora McNeece, surviving are his wife of 65 years, Dorothea V Travis Heady; children, Zora Lynn Wilson, Dawn Heady and Russell (Jody) Heady; grandchildren, Kaitlynn (Tyler) Eads, Courtney (Ryan) Hoffman, Jennifer (Shawn) Keill and Russell D, II and great-grandchildren, Alexander Eads, Samuel Eads, Kaden Keill and Tegan Keill, as well as his beloved dog, Sarge Heady.

A memorial service will be held at a later date due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

**Services will be held at St. Elizabeths Church on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. On Thursday, August 19, Russell Spencer Heady will be inurned at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
