Shirley Ann Borst, 81, of Barefoot Bay, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2022, at her home while surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, caring grandmother, loyal friend, trusted confidant, and loved by all.

Shirley was born on July 13, 1940, in Staten Island, New York, to Sgt. Alessio J. Guido and Mrs. Carmella Uggiano Powell. She was a 1958 graduate of Curtis High School. After graduating, she married her sweetheart, the late Vincent J. Borst, on her 18th birthday, July 13, 1958. She was resided in New Jersey for most of her life before retiring to Florida in 1987.

Shirley was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church where she served as Eucharistic Minister and also as part of the Ladies Guild. She was also a very active member in multiple clubs in the Barefoot Bay Community including, TOPS, Little Theater, Red Hats, and the Italian-American club. She loved to travel abroad, and took numerous cruises with her late husband in her lifetime.

Shirley is preceded in death by her late husband, Vincent J. Borst Sr., and her son, Matthew J. Borst. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Robin Newton, of Barefoot Bay, FL; son Vincent Borst and his wife Rosemarie, of Fairlawn, NJ; five grandchildren, Heather Newton, Michael Borst, Jessica Newton, Robbie Newton, Christopher Borst; great grandson, Jayden Newton.

We take comfort in knowing that Shirley is now at peace surrounded by light.

Services will be held at St. Lukes Catholic Church in Barefoot Bay, Florida on February 5, 2022 at 11am.
