Obituary

Stephen Louis Schneider passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, Tuesday, January 19, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 72 years young. He is predeceased by his parents, Oswald and Jane (Bendes) Schneider, as well as Sister-In-Law, Tania Schneider and Brother-In-Law, Glenn W. Covert, Sr.

Steve, "Papa" was born on April 2, 1943 in Manville, New Jersey. He attended Manville schools and Kansas State College in Pittsburg, Kansas. He served three years in the United States Army, including a tour in Vietnam, where he received the Campaign Medal. He retired from Johns-Manville Corporation, Parkersburg, West Virginia, and after which moved to Sebastian, Florida. Papa had a passion of sports, such as baseball, golf, basketball, and football. He was an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Rays and West Virginia Mountaineers, and active in the local Elks, Moose, and American Legion. Papa was also a loyal contributor to various charities such as St. Joseph's Indian School and the Lakota children.

Papa was known for his generous heart and never considered anyone a stranger. During his daily bike rides you would often find him chatting with neighbors and friends about sports and politics, alike. He loved his family and his grandchildren with all of his heart and it showed every day.

Steve is survived by his loving wife Helen M. Schneider, siblings Major General (retired) Richard S. Schneider, Jane S. Covert, Carole A. Kelyman and Paul O. Schneider; his children Lisa L. Schneider Sporman, David C. Raiman, and Deborah Johns; Daughter-In-Law, Jennifer, and Son-In-Law, Richard; Grandchildren Robert, Dyllan, Richard, D.J., Kaley, Jonathan, Angel, Hannah, Haley, Matthew, and Makaylah; four Nephews, two Great-Nephews, two Nieces, nine Great-Nieces, and one Great-Great-Niece.

Papa, "the bottom line is this", you touched our hearts every day, and you will be missed by us all. We love you Papa! "Cheers, Beers, and Mountaineers!!"
