OBITUARY FOR SYLVIA J ALLEN

Sylvia Jesiolowski Allen, 89, of Sebastian, FL, peacefully passed away Wednesday, June 12th at the VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach, FL.

She was born to the late Stephen and Helen Jesiolowski on May 7, 1935, in Pittsburgh, PA.  Sylvia graduated from Bellefield Girls' Vocational High School in 1953 and went on to become a librarian at Carnegie Library where she worked in the children's section.  Marriage took her to Florida in 1961.

As an active member of Saint Sebastian Catholic Church, Sylvia participated in St. Sebastian's Women's Guild, Senior Socialites, and visited the Adoration Chapel regularly. Her hobbies included traveling, going on cruises, dancing, and sewing.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Ann, Marie, Frances, Helena, Regina, and Norma; brothers Frank, Joseph, Bernard, Norbert, and Henry; her former husbands Ronald J. S. Thorburn, Jr. (father of her daughters) and ex-husband; Howard L. Allen, her devoted husband of 32 years and father of her stepchildren; Paul D. Owens, her loving fiancé; and her step-daughter, Cynthia S. Allen.

She is survived by her daughters Suzan T. Boyd and Jayne T. (Michael) Wilding; her stepchildren Joseph H. Allen and Lisa M. Allen; her grandchildren Marlon, Sophie, Taylor, Megan, Logan and John; great grandson Cameron; and many nephews and nieces.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on July 9th at St. Sebastian Catholic Church with interment immediately following at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Ft. Pierce.
