Theodore "Ted" Henry Cox of Barefoot Bay, Florida passed away peacefully with his family by his side Thursday, April 10. Ted was born on April 11, 1944 to the late Robert and Virginia (Klock) Cox.

Ted resided in Black River for 60 years. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1962, joined the United States Army shortly after high school and served in Korea. After his time in the military, Ted returned to Black River where he joined the family business, Cox Insurance.

Ted enjoyed spending time with his family at "the cottage" on Chippewa Point on The St. Lawrence River where he was an avid fisherman. Ted's love for the the river was only surpassed by his love for his family, especially the grandchildren in his later years. Ted also loved hunting, spending time outdoors, and hanging out with "The Buds".

Ted is survived by his wife of 46 years, Claire Jaeckel. Ted and Claire have three children: Tracy (Marc) Liphardt of Wenham, MA; Tim (Angie) Cox of Raleigh, NC; and Tom (DeAnne) Cox of Pace, FL ; and six grandchildren: Morgan, Abby, Makenzie, Charlie, Sully, and Andy. Ted is also survived by his brother, Gary Cox of Whitethorn, California.

A celebration of Ted's life will be held this summer at The River on a date yet to be decided.
