Another angel went to be with his Lord and Master.  Tom McRay Pate left this world the evening of Friday, November 6 at 10:45pm.  His peaceful death occurred at William Childs Hospice House where he was admitted Friday evening.

A friend and joy to all who knew him.  He will be greatly missed.  Tom was a resident of Snug Harbor Lakes.  He was born in Beckley West Virginia.  Son of the late John W. Pate, Sr. and Ethel Phillips Pate.

He married Joyce Pate August 14, 1965 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hollidaysburg, PA.  They were married for 55 years.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Ellstrom Pate, son Terry M. Pate of Melbourne, FL; son Robert A. Pate and wife Lisa of Louisiana; brother James Earl Pate and wife Sue, sister Etheline Pate Dorsey and sister-in-law Dreama Pate all of West Virginia.

Tom was a member of the First Baptist Church Barefoot Bay in Barefoot Bay.  He worked 34 years of his life.  He started at Alleghany Lines and worked through their merger and retired from American Airlines.

Tom and Joyce were members of the Moose lodge and enjoyed many dinners and Dances there.  They had an RV and traveled to Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Louisiana and West Virginia, and had many great visits with friends and family.  They also enjoyed boating and traveled the world with the airlines to Nassau, Hawaii, San Juan, Free Port and Acapulco, New Mexico.

Tom enjoyed many hobbies such as wood carving.  He also enjoyed having a 76 acre farm and loved to ride horseback with his sons and his buddies.

He was preceded in death by his brothers John W. Pate Jr, Jack Norman Pate and James Robert Pate and wife Shirley and sisters, Patty Pate Chambers and Shirley Pate Foley.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church Barefoot Bay.  Pastor Rick Lesh to officiate.
