Obituary: Vincent William Atherton

Vincent William Atherton, 83, of Sebastian, FL died Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Sebastian River Medical Center.

Mr. Atherton was born April 22, 1928 in Astoria, NY and moved to Sebastian in 1999 from Jacksonville, FL.

He was a graduate of Hofstra University and had been an Advertising Account Executive with Golf Magazine, BOAC and TDI. He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and served in the US Army. An avid golfer, Mr. Atherton was a member of Pelham Country Club, Winged Food Country Club and Sawgrass Country Club.

Survivors include his daughters Mary Butler and Susan Reed both of Sebastian; a son James Atherton of Vero Beach, FL; a brother Millard Atherton of Valley Stream, NY; a sister Kathleen Betts of Valley Stream, NY; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Susan Atherton and a brother Lawrence Atherton.

Service: The family will receive friends 6-8 PM, Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Seawinds Funeral Home in Sebastian, FL. Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM, Friday, January 27, 2012 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sebastian.
