Vona Mae Wohlenberg, age 89, of Fellsmere, passed away on February 18, 2026. Born December 5, 1936, in Birmingham, Alabama, Vona lived a long life defined by a love for family, patriotism, and her relationship with Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Silles Rice and Eva Mae Hill, sister Francis Garland and her husband, Dan W. Wohlenberg, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage and military life. As a devoted military wife, Vona embraced the challenges and transitions of service life with resilience and dignity. Those years strengthened her deep love for her country and her unwavering patriotic spirit.
Vona was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and held a deep appreciation for American history and heritage. A staunch and committed Republican, she stood firmly in her political convictions and valued civic responsibility.
Education was of great importance to Vona. In 1981, she earned her Associate's Degree from Brevard Community College, reflecting her belief in discipline, hard work, and lifelong learning. She was elegant in presence, sharp in mind, and known for her honesty and intelligence.
Her faith in Jesus Christ was personal and foundational. She attended First Baptist Church of Wabasso faithfully and lived with steady assurance in her Savior.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Lucik; her children, Brent Wohlenberg and Diane Garland (David); her three grandchildren, Summer Slovak (Wes), Jesse Bogart (Kim), and Geoffery Wade (Liz); and her eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Monday, February 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at Seawinds Funeral Home Chapel with reception to follow
Vona Mae Wohlenberg will be remembered as a woman of conviction, intelligence, and faith in Jesus. Her legacy lives on in her family and the principles she faithfully upheld.
