Walter was born on Feb 1, 1921 in Lindenhurst, NY to Charles and Sadie Ehlen and passed July 21, 2021. He enlisted in the US Navy during WWII and served honorably in the naval aviation department. Walter married Margie (Wilant) in 1944 and moved to Uniondale NY after his discharge. He worked with Grumman Industries for a short while until he received a career position with New York Telephone and worked there until his retirement in 1985. It was then that he and his wife moved to Barefoot Bay, Florida and made their new home. Both were active and highly respected in the community. Walter was always known as a true gentleman and an outstanding representative of his generation. He was a proud member of the Space Coast Honor Flight.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Margie. They were true sole mates and were happily married to for 64 years, until her passing in 2008.
He is survived by his niece, Bev (Bob) and nephews Keith (Debbie) and Ken (Won). His extended family includes grandniece Penny (Angel) and grandnephew Bryon (Holly). He was a loving uncle to his three great grandnephew and nieces.

Walter and Margie will be placed to rest at the Cape Canaveral Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Military Honors.
