Obituary

William " Bill " Boyd Fenton, III, 83, of Sebastian, Florida, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Sebastian River Medical Center with his family by his side.

He was born to the late William Boyd Fenton, Jr. and Mary Jane Thomas on January 15, 1938 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Moon Township High School in 1955. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Betty Jean Fenton, in 2007. They married in 1967 and relocated to Delaware shortly afterwards. They later retired and moved to Sebastian in 2004.

Bill served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and was a firefighter with Moon Township Volunteer Fire Company. He worked for the American Bridge Company before relocating from Pennsylvania to Delaware. There, he worked in the information technology field for the Chrysler Corporation for two years and General Motors/Electronic Data Systems for over 30 years.

When not working, Bill loved to spend time with his family. Most of his time away from work was devoted to family vacations and activities. In the early 1980 ' s, summer weekends were enjoyed sailing with his family on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. Later on, the boat was replaced with a travel trailer so Bill ' s family could enjoy vacations together traveling on road trips to destinations along the east coast. The trailer was kept at the Jersey Shore in the summer, and nearly every weekend was spent there with the family enjoying Ocean View Resort and the beach. In retirement, Bill and Betty enjoyed country couples dancing with the Southern Sidekicks. Bill always wanted a Corvette, so in 2013 he finally bought one. He joined the Indian River Corvette Club and often went to club events and trips with his son.

Bill is survived by his three children, Stephanie Palmer and her husband Michael of Middletown, Delaware; Lynn Boyer of Boynton Beach, Florida; and William Boyd Fenton, IV of Port Saint Lucie, Florida. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Carly Sellers and her husband Scott of Warwick, Maryland; his brother, Thomas Fenton and his wife Nancy of Palm Coast, Florida; several nieces and nephews; and his dear friend and companion Abigail Minton. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Fenton, and his step-mother Julia Fenton.
